This coiled basket is handwoven by Bedouin women living in the Sultanate of Oman from a local wild palm tree, and is traditionally used to hold luban (frankincense resin) and camels milk.
It is sturdy, lightweight, and can be relied upon to store precious resins, woods, incense, herbs or other valuable possessions. This basket is a testament to the resourcefulness of desert dwelling artisans, who use the few materials at hand to provide for their everyday needs in a symbiotic relationship with their environment. Each piece is a unique work of art.
